Brief
Limestone Capital, a leading European private equity real estate firm, appointed Aura Consulting to lead the transformation of Mitsu – a premier ‘Tokyo themed’ restaurant, bar, and club.
Located within the double-basement levels of the iconic Willow Street building, this project was a vital component of the site’s transition to the Aethos brand.
Aura managed the four-month refurbishment, overseeing the integration of high-spec dining areas, a vibrant club reception, and a bespoke karaoke suite. We coordinated the creative vision of Milanese designers Astet Studio with the technical precision of Ben Adams Architects to create a high-octane social hub.
Challenges
Subterranean Light Optimization – Operating within a double-basement required a strategic approach to lighting. Aura maximized the impact of the building’s sunken “pocket garden” and courtyard, replacing the previous dark finishes with translucent partitions and reflective surfaces to pull natural light into the heart of the subterranean restaurant.
Technical Synergy – Successfully embedding a world-class sound system, DJ booth, and high-spec lighting alongside a refined dining environment presented complex technical hurdles. Aura managed the installation of specialized acoustic treatments and “green ceiling” features to ensure the venue could transition seamlessly from a luxury restaurant to a high-energy club.
Dual Architect Leadership – Orchestrating the workflow between Astet Studio’s narrative-led Milanese design and Ben Adams’ London-based technical oversight. Aura ensured that the vibrant Tokyo-inspired aesthetic complemented the building’s famous industrial “spaceship” façade and raw concrete structure.
