Brief

Argyll, a premium flexible workspace provider, appointed Aura Consulting to manage the reimagining of 53 Davies Street.

This grand 25,000 sqft Grade I listed 18th-century building, situated between Grosvenor Square and New Bond Street, was transformed into a high-end “home-from-home” environment.

The design concept focused on a boutique residential feel, sympathetically restoring original mahogany staircases and signature fireplaces while integrating a marble-clad reception, velvet-upholstered lounges, and a striking marble kitchen island.

Challenges

The Crossrail Constraint – A major Project Management challenge involved the building’s proximity to the Crossrail route. The project had to be split into two distinct phases to account for regional infrastructure works. Aura meticulously coordinated with external stakeholders, as the building’s external restorations were funded and dictated by Crossrail requirements, requiring precise programme alignment.

Exceptional Environmental Retrofitting – Improving the sustainability of a Grade I listed structure is a significant technical feat. Aura oversaw the integration of modern, energy-efficient systems within the 18th-century fabric, successfully achieving an EPC jump from ‘E’ to ‘B’ – an exceptionally high rating for a building of this heritage status.

Heritage Protection – Every modern enhancement, from the latest AV and video-conferencing technology to the high-spec plumbing for luxury shower rooms, had to be installed with surgical care to protect the extensive wood panelling and historic integrity of the five-storey workspace.

Sensory Branding – Beyond the visual, the space was designed for a cohesive experience, incorporating the signature “Argyll No. 3” scent and premium amenities like fluted vanity units.
