Throughout his varied career in the construction industry Paul has worked on a wide range of projects for blue chip clients. He is experienced in the disciplines of Project Management, Commercial Management and direct Construction Site Management. CAREER HISTORY
- June 2006 to Present: Bovis Lend Lease, Project Manager
Network Rail.
Project Manager involved in the high profile Atrium Data Capture Project. Duties include the management of regional Project Managers, production of “GRIP” project management methodology documentation, liaison with Project Sponsor Agent and the co-ordination of a project helpdesk across the business.
Department for Transport. Project Manager co-ordinating the change control process for the DfT on 2No new depots under construction for the CTRL. This involved liaising with all stakeholders and ensuring that all changes are properly authorised, tracked and completed.
- November 2003 to May 2006 EC Harris LLP, Senior Project Manager
Brixton PLC. Project / Construction Manager responsible for the full co-ordination of various refurbishment works to office/ industrial units and infrastructure schemes, including CCTV, signage and new security gatehouses. Project values range from £25,000 to £500,000 with as many as 8 projects managed concurrently.
Her Majesty's Court Service. Responcible for the co-ordination and production of feasibility studies. Remit included space planning, budget allocation, programming and risk reporting.
Parsifal College. Project Manager and Contract Administrator on a £4mil educational/ residential refurbishment project. The original building was constructed in 1875 and this dictated that the project team understood the complexities of undertaking modern construction works within a defined existing shell. Project also included a new build element of a lecture theatre and student lounge
Primark Stores Ltd. Project Manager and Contract Administrator on two fast track retail fit out projects (approximate total value of £3.5mil). Key duties included co-coordinating the design team/ Contractor and monitoring the project programmes to ensure the strict Client objectives were met.
St. George, South London Ltd. Project Manager assigned to undertake the refurbishment of a high specification apartment, which was damaged by a severe fire. Scope of works involved cladding works to adjacent properties and the co-ordination of each separate specialist trade contractor together with tenant liaison.
- November 1997 to November 2003 - Haley Somerset Consulting Limited, Team Leader/ Senior Project Manager
ASDA Stores Capital Works Programme. Team Leader responsible for leading and managing a designated team of project managers in the delivery of store upgrade, improvement and refurbishment projects. Responsibilities included managing, allocating, monitoring and coordinating the capital works portfolio of 150nr separate projects ranging from £10K to £250K throughout the UK.
Projects included roofing repairs/renewals, car parks, colleague/customer toilet refurbishments, renewal of air conditioning systems, fire alarm installations/upgrades and general store improvements. Each project was undertaken within a “live” environment and therefore a keen eye was essential to ensure that any disruption was kept to an absolute minimum. In addition, the large number of projects procured on an “emergency” basis had to be “dovetailed” into the existing rolling programme without impacting on existing programme milestones. Projects also involved undertaking design/ commercial and surveying roles.
Internet Switch Facility, Clichy, Paris. Commercial Manager on a complex design and build factory to Internet switch facility conversion (approximate value £70million). Responsible for commercial aspects of all builders work packages, including external cladding repairs and full fit out of individual tenant areas.
Morgan Stanley. Project Manager undertaking move management services and responsible for planning and costing business unit moves within the existing Morgan Stanley property portfolio (move sizes ranged from 100m2 to 1,000m2). Move projects included the relocation of dealer floors and local department fit outs.
102 Queens Road, Brighton & 36-38 Peckham Road, London. Construction/Project Manager on 2nr design and build commercial to residential conversion projects (approximate total value £4million). Responsible for the provision of all project management duties, including site based management and programming activities, required during the construction of high quality apartments and affordable housing including, in addition, the procurement of all required FF&E (lighting, carpeting, kitchen units, etc).
- April 2001 March 2002 – Gap year
A year was spent travelling around the world, including India, Sri Lanka, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Canada.
10 week work placement with WT Partnership in North Sydney, Australia as a Project Manager.
- July 1995 July 1996 – Ballast Wiltshire, year out placement
A sandwich placement with a large building Contractor. Experience included working within the Estimating, Planning, Buying and Legal departments. A large segment was spent working on two construction sites, roles included package management, site engineering/ setting out and Quantity Surveying.
- September 1990 to July 1993 – Property Services Agency, Design Technician
Ministry of Defence. Responsible for the production of working drawings on both AutoCAD and drawing board for various MoD projects. Also responsible for undertaking structural design calculations in timber, steel, concrete (including reinforced concrete) and masonry. Duties often included liaison with other design team members to reach co-ordinated design solutions.
